A good charity website should do more than explain what you do. It should help people quickly understand your organisation, find the support or information they need, and take the next step.

At a minimum, your charity website should include:

  • A clear homepage that immediately explains who you are, who you help and what you do, with obvious routes into the rest of your site.

  • An About page that tells your story, introduces your team and explains your purpose in a way that builds trust.

  • Services or support pages that clearly explain what you offer, who it's for and how people can access it.

  • Impact information showing the difference your charity makes. This could include stories, statistics, outcomes or testimonials.

  • Contact information that is easy to find, with clear options for getting in touch.

  • Donation information if you accept donations, with a straightforward and trustworthy way to give.

  • News and events to demonstrate that your charity is active and give visitors opportunities to get involved.

Your website should also be accessible, mobile-friendly and easy to navigate, with appropriate privacy and cookie information.

Most importantly, every page should have a clear call to action, whether that's getting support, donating, volunteering, contacting you or finding out more.

Your website doesn't need to be complicated. It needs to be clear, purposeful and designed around the people who use it.
