How do you know if your charity needs a new website
A website doesn't necessarily need replacing just because it looks a little dated. But if your website is making it harder for people to understand, trust or engage with your charity, it may be time for a rethink.
Here are some signs to look out for:
People can't quickly understand what you do. Your homepage should make it clear who you help, what you offer and how someone can take the next step.
Your content no longer reflects your charity. Perhaps your services have changed, you've grown, or your website still talks about work you no longer provide.
Your website is difficult to update. If adding a news story, changing information or updating an event feels like a chore, your website may not be working for your team.
It's difficult to use on a phone. With many people accessing websites on mobile devices, your website needs to work just as well on a small screen as it does on a desktop.
People can't find what they need. Confusing navigation, buried information and too many clicks can quickly frustrate visitors.
Your calls to action aren't clear. Whether you want someone to get support, donate, volunteer or contact you, the next step should be obvious.
Your website isn't accessible. Accessibility should be considered from the structure and content through to design and functionality.
A new website isn't always the answer. Sometimes a focused refresh can solve the problem. But if several of these issues sound familiar, it could be time to take a closer look.
